Ok, so your on the hunt for your perfect wedding photographer and your totally overwhelmed with all the terms and jargon used. Documentary, alternative, unobtrusive, reportage and so on. None of this means anything to you! And why would it? It only means something to us photographers. All you know is you want to hire a good photographer and have some nice photographs of you on your wedding day.

I wouldn’t class my self as any of the above terms, personally. I like to think I’m a relaxed and friendly person who will be more of a friend on your wedding day and mingle in with you and your guests taking some lovely photographs for you. I’m not the type of person to start ordering everyone around and dragging you off for endless amounts of photographs, when you want to be enjoying your self with your guests.

If you you book my full day package I will be with you from the morning preparations, approx 2 hours before your wedding ceremony, depending on timings on the day. During the morning prep I will be there with you and your girls taking natural and candid photographs of you all getting ready. I will also photograph your dress, shoes, flowers and any other accessories you have. My advice is to just ignore me and carry on with what you are doing. However if you have coffee on the go at this point - I won’t say no! After bridal preps I head off to the ceremony to photograph your guests and groom arriving.

Most of my couples tell me they hate having their photograph taken. Honestly, who doesn’t? Please don’t worry about this part of the day. My aim is to make it a relaxed and fun part of your wedding. No awkward posing, just the two of you together. I usually take you somewhere away from your guests so that you can relax. It’s worth asking the venue to have some drinks and canapés ready for you, so you don’t miss out! The couples portraits usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes. If later on in the day you want to do a few more evening portraits I am more than happy to do this. Sunsets can make for some fantastic photographs. If we’re not blessed with a sunset, I can also do some creative off camera flash photographs to create something awesome. These kind of photographs make for fantastic wall art too!

I also take some informal group portraits of you and your guests. I advise for around 6 groups as they can take quite a bit of time to organise and one or two of your guest usually go off to the bar at this point. Usually these photographs consists of the below groups.

  • Full bridal party (Bride and Groom, Bridesmaid, Best man, Groomsmen, Flower Girls & Paige Boys)
  • Bride and Groom with Parents
  • Bride and Groom with Grooms Family
  • Bride and Groom with Brides Family
  • Bride and Bridesmaids
  • Groom and Groomsmen

The rest of the day I spend amongst your guests taking natural photographs of them having a good time. Along with photographing the ceremony and rest of the day naturally as the moments happen!
